Bandipore is recognized for Alim, Adab, and Aab which represents “knowledge”, “good habits,” and “water resources” respectively. But it is getting attention for being transformed into a book village.

Lala Aragami, a mystical poet and the saint of Kashmir is the best example who has published many of his literary works in Kashmiri language.
Today, Aragam is being known more as a ‘Book village.’ Situated on banks of Wular Lake, the largest freshwater Lake of Asia, this village is delighting the tourists with hundreds of homes having library.
In total, there are 400 households and the government selected it for the book village because of its close distance to Wular Lake. Sarhad, the organization that supported and aided this initiative has made 30000 books available for the public and planning to increase this to around eight lakh of various genres.
